YOUR OPPORTUNITY

We are currently seeking a Transportation Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to support our growing team. Our Transportation group in Lethbridge delivers comprehensive planning, design, and engineering services across all phases of roadway, transit, rail, and bridge projects. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual who thrives in a collaborative setting, is passionate about transportation, and is eager to contribute to the development of southern Alberta while growing their career.

YOUR CAPABILITIES AND CREDENTIALS

  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Basic understanding of general civil design concepts in relevant areas
  • Basic understanding of modelling software and knowledge of calculations performed by the software or software savvy with aspirations to develop 3D modeling skillset
  • Knowledge of modelling software such as Infraworks, OpenRoads and/or Civil3D is considered an asset
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Proficiency with MS Project considered an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High emphasis on attention to detail and accuracy
  • Team player with a positive attitude

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 4-Year degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) with a minimum of 0–4 years of industry experience
  • Registered as an EIT in the Province of Alberta or ability to obtain within the next 6 months
    Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Responsibilities
  • With guidance, perform geometric design and 3D modeling on a variety of urban and rural roadway, transit, and rail projects
  • Support development of design plans and assist with preparation of technical specifications and quantity estimates as required
  • Assist with the preparation of engineering reports and technical studies, including basic calculations
  • Coordinate with other disciplines including structural, geotechnical, stormwater and streetlighting to ensure interdisciplinary design integration
  • Follow applicable standards, quality assurance and quality control procedures during the design process
  • Work to meet project timelines and budgets
  • Additional duties may include assisting with project coordination, project pursuits and proposal preparation
