Role: The Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and mitigate risks associated with transportation activities.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist the Director of Safety and Compliance in developing and implementing transportation safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
· Assist the Director of Safety and Compliance in improving and evaluating the company’s safety policy.
· Conduct safety assessments and inspections of transportation equipment, facilities, and operations to identify potential hazards and risks and to ensure compliance.
· Collaborate with transportation managers and supervisors to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
· Provide training and educational programs on transportation safety practices, including defensive driving techniques, hazardous materials handling, and emergency response procedures.
· Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and develop preventive measures.
· Maintain records and documentation related to transportation safety activities, including incident reports, training records, progressive discipline and safety audits.
· Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to transportation safety and incorporate findings into safety programs.
· Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies and participate in regulatory compliance audits and inspections.
· Analyze data and performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement in transportation safety performance.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement in transportation operations.
· Follow the principles of GMP relevant to their job responsibilities.
· Follow the applicable Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures relevant to your job responsibilities.
· Daily auditing of driver logs to ensure compliance with regulated Hours of Service (HOS) and ELD Compliance.
· Recruitment of employee selection by screening driver applicants as directed and onboarding driver orientation
