Summary/Job Objective: Rocky Mountain Recycling Services is a leading-edge company providing a range of innovative recycling services to assist a variety of commercial and industrial companies. We are looking for a hands-on working Maintenance Shop Lead who will be responsible for overseeing daily operations of shop, coordinating and performing repairs, managing staff, and ensuring all vehicles and equipment meet safety and performance standards. We have an internal transportation department with 3 locations within Salt Lake City. The tractors are typically supported by full-maintenance leases, with the maintenance and repair of box and flatbed trailers and roll-off trucks are the primary responsibilities of this maintenance team. This lead position needs to effectively lead others, work with computer diagnostics as needed, and exhibit quality experience with basic truck equipment and the maintenance of rolling equipment. This position also requires accurate reporting of work orders, parts acquisition, and willingness to communicate with drivers and other co-workers in a professional and productive manner. This is a Monday through Friday role with occasional emergency hours or weekend hours. Duties and Responsibilities: · Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts. Primary equipment is roll-off tractors and trailers. · Schedule and prioritize maintenance, inspections, and repairs for trucks, trailers, forklifts, and heavy equipment. · Troubleshoot mechanical issues and provide hands-on support. · Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, safety guidelines, and company standards. · Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and inventory logs. · Coordinate with transportation leadership to minimize downtime and optimize fleet availability. · Oversee parts ordering, vendor relationships, and shop supply levels. · Implement preventative maintenance programs and continuous improvement initiatives. · Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient shop environment. · Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems--such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, and hydraulics. · Ability to weld and use a torch is a plus. Experience and Qualifications: Required: · Strong Diagnostic and Mechanical skills (diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, etc.). · Knowledge of DOT compliance and fleet maintenance best practices. · Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in a shop/yard environment.
