PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with CTDOT funding programs such as LOTCIP, STP, and Local Roads
  • Familiarity with Complete Streets design principles and ADA compliance
  • Knowledge of local permitting processes and utility coordination in Connecticut
  • Involvement in professional organizations such as ASCE or ITE
  • Experience with public engagement and community outreach on transportation projects
Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

As a valuable part of our Transportation Business Line, a Project Engineer will focus on producing high-quality engineering plans and technical deliverables for state and municipal clients with responsibilities such as:

  • Perform roadway design tasks including horizontal and vertical alignment, cross sections, ADA compliance, pavement design, and complete streets elements
  • Prepare construction documents including layout plans, profiles, grading, typical sections, traffic control, and utility coordination
  • Assist with the preparation of specifications, quantity take-offs, and cost estimates for roadway and intersection improvement projects
  • Ensure all designs follow applicable state and local guidelines such as CTDOT Highway Design Manual, AASHTO, MUTCD, and ADA standards
  • Work closely with traffic, drainage, stormwater, and environmental teams to integrate roadway elements into broader project scopes
  • Participate in internal design reviews and support project teams in ensuring accuracy and completeness of deliverables
  • Support projects during the construction phase by reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and conducting occasional field visits
  • Work under the direction of a Project Manager or Senior Engineer, contributing technical expertise and reliable design execution
