Our client, a national food distributer in Essex Junction, Vermont is looking for a Transportation Router. The Router position is an individual contributor role responsible for creating routes, managing routes, calculating delivery routes, times of deliveries and makes the necessary adjustments for drivers and customers. The Router role works with numerous routing and software systems, primarily RoadNet. The Router role requires strong attention to detail and process skills. The Router may interact with drivers, sales, transportation, warehouse and customer service personnel at management discretion.
Sunday-Thursday start time 10am
Salary starts $33/hour, higher commensurate with experience
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma/GED
Experience in the food distribution industry highly preferred.
At least 2– 3 Years transportation routing and/or related work experience.
Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office programs (Word/Excel/Outlook)
Experience with Road Net/Omnitracs software preferred

Responsible for calculating routes and times of deliveries, and makes the necessary adjustments for drivers and customers.
Establish delivery routes which are cost effective and compliant with Federal DOT guidelines while still maintaining an acceptable level of customer service, quality and satisfaction. Utilize routing software application to ensure Delivery costs are held to company expected run rates year over year.
Establish routing procedures and schedules which allow for the optimum use of personnel and equipment while keeping a strong emphasis on driver safety.
Perform routing application maintenance daily to ensure all locations have accurate, timely, and up-to-date information: Standard Routes and Customer Delivery Requirements; Geo-Coding, delivery days, time windows, service time types, service time overrides, account types, meal beaks; Route start times, pre/post trips, starting/ending depot, travel modes, color for mapping, assigned driver, equipment and DOT road checks; Plan Maintenance equipment with regards to costing, restrictions, and capacities.
Perform and provide costing, off-days, maintenance, scorecard, customer and KPI reporting on scheduled intervals.
Perform a recap of the previous days actual routing results and make necessary changes/adjustments to the Standard routes if required.
Produce driver manifest report and distribute nightly.
