This is a full-time position, Monday thru Friday, 7:00am-5pm Some on call work on weekends required

Responsibilities

THE PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:

  • Assigns, directs, monitors, and ensures proper completion of tasks for dispatchers and transportation clerks. Motivates employees to ensure that predetermined productivity, cost, and quality standards are achieved.
  • Supervises routing, scheduling, and data entry for all shipments. Ensures inbound and outbound shipments are properly processed within the TMS.
  • Provides safety training, ensures adherence to proper safety precautions, and use of PPE. Ensure communication of weekly safety messages between dispatch and drivers to increase safety awareness.
  • Trains, coaches, develops and corrects employee performance in accordance with company policies. Provides input for disciplinary and employee appraisal actions, merit increases, promotions, and/or terminations to Dispatch Manager
  • Promotes good customer service relations, both internally and externally, through resolution of service issues in a timely, effective and professional manner.
  • Communicate with drivers when errors occur with route assignments to get them back on track to be updated in real-time.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions for drivers/route assignments to ensure OTD for pickup and deliveries.
  • Ensures proper use of the E-Log System with regards to tracking and communication. Navigates WMS and TMS to troubleshoot basic problems.
  • Provide customer updates on pickup and/or delivery status via email, websites, and/or phone.
  • Update information on various reports for both internal and external customers.
  • Other clerical duties assigned by the Manager.

The successful candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a dispatch environment for Class A drivers.
  • Leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with reefer and dry van grocery dispatching preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of DOT rules and regulations.
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Flexible to meet changing demands and can juggle many tasks simultaneously in a busy environment.
  • Excellent follow-through on commitments/deadlines.
