Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • You have a diploma or degree in Civil Engineering with related work experience in transportation engineering or equivalent
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams;
  • Effective problem solving and independent technical judgement to resolve conflicts is required;
  • Experience with design software such as AutoCAD and traffic modelling software such as Synchro and Vissim would be an asset;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple priorities and projects;
  • A valid class 5 BC Driver’s License is required;
    For temporary full-time positions of 8 months or longer, a City employee who is successful on the posting will have the right to revert to their former position.
Responsibilities
  • Developing and administering the City’s traffic control devices, traffic signage, pavement marking and road safety programs;
  • Reviewing detailed design of multi-modal transportation infrastructure upgrades as they relate to traffic control, signing, and pavement markings
  • Preparing technical reports to Committee and Council on traffic operational concerns and updates to the Streets & Traffic By-Law.
  • Administering capital projects related to Transportation programs, including preparing terms of reference, project specifications and tender documents
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders regarding transportation policy and design guidelines related to the delivery of public realm infrastructure;
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of transportation design guidelines and applied best practices;
  • Developing workflow tools and supporting materials for capital project planning and prioritization and street use permit applications.
  • Investigating concerns and complaints and providing information, assistance and interpretations to the public concerning transportation matters and applicable policies and regulations;
