Primary Location: Mary and Elizabeth - UMC Address: 1850 Bluegrass Ave Louisville, KY 40215 Shift: Job Description Summary: The Transporter provides safe, reliable, and courteous transportation to patients throughout the medical complex. The employee will receive training and must demonstrate competency in moving of patients, including neonatal, pediatric (birth - 11 years), adolescents (12 - 17 years), adults (18 - 65 years), and geriatric (66 years and older). The Transporter must be knowledgeable of department/hospital policies and procedures. They will guide their own professional growth and continuing education. Job Description: Essential Functions: Ensures proper identification of patients prior to transport Maintains positive and professional relationships with patients Assists and transports patients effectively via wheelchair, bed, and stretcher, Follows established standards to transport isolation patients, when applicable Provides physical support to patients when ambulating Handles medical equipment safely while transporting Follows safety precautions and infection control techniques Performs clerical duties related to the acceptance of tasks and proper functioning of the department, including answering phones/voice mail, reporting and documentation on office log, run slips, and various sign-out logs Other Functions: Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with physicians, patients, residents, visitors, staff and the broader health care community Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times Performs other duties as assigned Additional Job Description: UofL Health is a fully integrated regional academic health system with nine hospitals, four medical centers, Brown Cancer Center, Eye Institute, nearly 200 physician practice locations and more than 1,000 providers in Louisville and the surrounding counties, including southern Indiana.
