Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the Director of Quality Management, the Trauma Coordinator is responsible for monitoring trauma patient care from ECC admission, through operative intervention, ICU care, Med/Surg care, any rehabilitation and discharge, including the trauma PI program. The Trauma Coordinator will participate in a leadership role in the hospital, community and regional emergency management response committee. At least 80% of full-time hours dedicated to the trauma program. Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Bachelor Degree preferred. MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE Minimum of 1 year experience in a critical care setting required; previous clinical nursing experience in a trauma system also required. REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse. American Heart Association BLS required. Within 6 months of hire: Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC), and Trauma Nurse Core Competency (TNCC). REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES Demonstrated leadership ability and critical thinking skills required. Excellent communication skills. Computer skills. Within 1 year of hire attend: a) Society of Trauma Nurses (STN) Trauma Outcomes and Performance Improvement Course (TOPIC); b) American Trauma Society (ATS) Trauma Program Manager course; and c) Texas Trauma Coordinators Forum (TTCF) Texas Trauma Designation Education Course.
