THE OPPORTUNITY

Townsville University Hospital is seeking a dedicated and visionary Trauma Fellow to join our team. This is a temporary full-time position for a duration of 12 months and offers a unique opportunity to combine clinical excellence with impactful research, with a focus on improving trauma care in regional settings.
We serve as the Major Trauma Service for North Queensland, providing tertiary Neurosurgical, Cardiothoracic, Hepatobiliary, and Paediatric services to the region. Our commitment to comprehensive trauma care spans prehospital and retrieval services, inpatient management, rehabilitee, and recovery.

Responsibilities

This role offers flexibility for the right candidate wishing to pursue a concurrent position within their relevant specialty, with a minimum of 0.50 FTE required for the Trauma Fellow position. The Fellow will work closely with senior clinical staff, including the Trauma Clinical Lead, to deliver longitudinal care to trauma patients across the region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinated clinical care delivery for trauma patients.
  • Dedicated research capacity focusing on regional trauma.
  • Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and trauma education programs.
  • Shaping health policy for regional trauma care.

We are looking for a clinician who is eligible for membership in FRACS, FANZCA, FACEM, FCICM, or an equivalent speciality related to trauma care.
