Job Details Job Location: Headquater 754 Rt 18 - East Brunswick, NJ 08816 Position Type: Temporary Education Level: Graduate Degree Salary Range: $35.00 - $50.00 Hourly Trauma-Informed English Language Instructor (Consultant) Program Overview PRAB’s Radiant Tomorrow Program provides trauma-informed support, counseling, and empowerment services for survivors of sexual and domestic violence. As part of our holistic healing approach, we are launching a 12-class English Language Program designed for Spanish-speaking survivors to strengthen communication skills, navigate legal systems, and build confidence in public and institutional settings. Position Summary The English Language Instructor will design and facilitate a 12-session English course (2 hours per class, weekday evenings at 6:00 PM) for adult Spanish-speaking participants of mixed English proficiency levels. This consultant role requires a trauma-informed, compassionate educator who can create a safe and empowering learning environment that recognizes how trauma can affect concentration, memory, and participation. The ideal candidate is bilingual (English/Spanish), passionate about supporting survivors of sexual and domestic violence, and able to develop curriculum content that includes practical vocabulary related to legal and social services, particularly terminology useful for navigating court systems. Responsibilities Design a 12-session curriculum tailored to Spanish-speaking adult survivors of violence. Integrate trauma-informed teaching principles into lesson planning and classroom facilitation. Include functional English lessons with emphasis on: Legal and court-related vocabulary (e.g., restraining orders, police reports, court filings). Everyday communication skills relevant to empowerment and self-advocacy. Select and/or create instructional materials and resources. Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment. Communicate regularly with the Program Manager regarding: Attendance and participant engagement. Any observed participant distress or need for clinical follow-up. Participate in brief check-ins and provide updates as required for grant reporting. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Education, TESOL, Linguistics, or related field (Master’s preferred). Minimum 2 years of experience teaching English to adult learners, preferably multilingual or Spanish-speaking populations. Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed practices or experience working with survivors of violence. Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Cultural sensitivity, flexibility, and empathy when working with diverse communities. Schedule and Compensation Consultant position, funded through a grant. 12 sessions total; 2 hours per class, weekday evenings (6:00–8:00 PM). Compensation commensurate with experience; paid per session or by contract.
