Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Trauma Injury Prevention Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, planning and managing injury prevention programs within the hospital and the broader community. This role serves as a liaison to injury prevention coalitions and committees throughout Orange County and other Southern California regions, as mandated by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) for Level I Trauma Center verification. The Coordinator oversees daily injury prevention activities, strategic planning and budgeting, and acts as a resource link to the Section of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery. The incumbent will engage in extensive public contact and collaboration with local public health staff, community-based organizations, and government agencies.
Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong knowledge of the epidemiology of injury, including health burden, risk factors and disparities
  • Proficiency in program development, coalition building and program evaluation
  • Proficiency in MS Office products including database management
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Five years of related experience, education/training, or a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus two years of related experience/training in health education, injury prevention or community health promotion
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of diverse populations and community stakeholders
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in the department and across the Health System
  • Ability to analyze data and present results in clear and concise formats

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience developing and implementing health promotion and prevention coalitions and community collaborative partnerships.
