JOB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS

The Trauma Performance Improvement (PI) Coordinator works with trauma program leadership to coordinate all aspects of the department’s Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) Program. The PI Coordinator will review the continuum of care to determine compliance with practice management guidelines, policies and procedures, and established standards of care.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL NEED:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current Multistate Compact License.
  • Certifications: CEN, CCRN, or CNOR preferred
  • Required Minimum 5 years recent clinical experience in direct patient care in Emergency/ICU/Critical Care setting
  • Required Clinical Proficiency in current trauma practice
  • Required Quality/Performance Improvement experience
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • TNCC and ACLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

Preferred:

  • TNCC Instructor or Course Director
  • Nursing or Healthcare-related Education Facilitator
  • Quality/Performance Improvement experience
  • PALS/ENPC Provider
  • EMS Experience
  • Prior experience in a Trauma Program position

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Plan.
  • Maintain the Trauma PI database to ensure adequate documentation as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Complete concurrent review of cases to identify quality, timelines and systems of care to meet state standards.
  • Participate in hospital education programs for nurses and resident physicians caring for trauma patients.
  • Serve as a liaison to the clinical areas responsible for trauma patients.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary monthly Trauma Systems & Operations Committee and Peer Review meetings.
