About the role: The Travel Advisor Account Manager plays a critical role in growing and supporting Backroads’ travel advisor channel. This role is responsible for managing a defined territory to drive regional sales performance and serves as the primary point of contact for travel advisors. Success in this role requires a balance of relationship management, data-driven sales strategy, and hands-on operational support. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, analytically minded, and comfortable working across multiple systems while maintaining a high level of professionalism and responsiveness. This is a highly visible role with a direct impact on revenue growth and advisor satisfaction. What you’ll be doing: Own and grow travel advisor sales performance within an assigned region, with accountability for quarterly and annual revenue goals. Build and maintain strong relationships with agency owners, host agencies, consortia partners, and frontline advisors. Develop and execute data-driven regional sales and marketing strategies based on performance trends, pipeline activity, and market insights. Analyze advisor performance and booking trends to identify growth opportunities and prioritize outreach. Plan and deliver webinars, training, and presentations to educate advisors on Backroads’ products, positioning, and marketing tools, with a focus on new-to-Backroads client acquisition. Partner on consortia marketing initiatives, ensuring accurate execution and timely delivery of all commitments. Serve as a primary point of contact for travel advisors, providing timely, high-quality support on reservations, availability, policies, and trip details. Maintain strong working knowledge of Backroads’ processes and systems to manage bookings, reservations, and account records with accuracy. Collaborate cross-functionally with different departments to deliver a seamless advisor experience. Provide team coverage as needed and handle challenging advisor conversations with professionalism, clarity, and relationship-focused problem solving. What you’ll need to be successful: 3+ years of sales or account management experience, preferably within luxury travel or a travel advisor-focused role. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret year-over-year performance metrics and apply insights into sales strategy. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (required) and strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated experience creating & presenting professional presentations in-person and virtually. Experience with CRM and booking systems preferred. Collaborative, flexible team player willing to step in as needed. Ability to travel up to two weeks per month within the continental U.S. Work Environment: On-Site, Berkeley, CA 4 days in-office, 1 day work from home This position requires regular travel.
