Commencement: Immediate start Long term role up to December 2026 Based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea Open to PNG Citizens only About the Program Abt PNG Management Services supports six Abt programs based in PNG. This Shared Services Platform supports the six programs triaged and prioritised based on risk. The six programs include: Australia PNG Economic Partnership (APEP) Australia PNG Subnational Program (APSP) PNG-Australia Transition to Health (PATH) PNG Partnerships for Improving Education (PIE) PNG Institutional Partnership Program (PIPP) PNG Women’s Lead Program (PWL) The Abt PNG Management Services departments support the delivery of the above mentioned Abt Programs through corporate services functions across seven teams including Finance and Travel, People and Culture, Procurement, Grants Management, Legal and Contracts, ICT, Facilities and Logistics and Safety and Security. About the Opportunity The Travel Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of corporate domestic travel for all Programs within the organisation. The role aims to ensure efficient travel arrangements, cost-effectiveness, compliance with policies, and excellent traveller experiences. Key Responsibilities The Travel Manager will undertake the following responsibilities. Develop and implement travel policies and procedures that align with the organisation's goals and industry best practices. Design and implement a robust reporting framework to track and analyse travel-related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Coordinate with Program teams to understand travel requirements and ensure travel arrangements meet business needs. Select and manage relationships with travel vendors, including airlines, hotels, car rental agencies, and travel agencies. Negotiate corporate rates and discounts with local travel vendors to achieve cost savings and value for money. Collaborate with Brisbane Travel Team for all international travel requests. Monitor travel trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes to make proactive adjustments to travel policies and strategies. Oversee travel bookings, including flights, accommodations, and ground transportation. Handle complex travel itineraries and urgent travel requests effectively. Ensure compliance with travel policies and expense guidelines. Provide support and assistance to travellers regarding travel-related issues and inquiries. Supervise and mentor the travel officers, providing guidance and training to ensure high-quality service delivery. Monitor and evaluate the performance of travel officers, providing feedback and identifying opportunities for improvement. Collaborate with the travel officers to resolve any challenges or issues related to travel arrangements. Maintain accurate travel records and ensure the travel tracker is up to date. Collaborate with finance teams to verify travel invoices for billing. Keep employees informed about travel updates, changes, and relevant information. Other duties as required and directed by the Shared Service Finance Managers Key working relationships All shared service teams (Finance, Payroll, HR, Security & Fleet, Procurement) Program Delivery Teams Internal and External Clients (Procurement companies/Travel Agencies/Hotel etc.) Key Deliverables Meet KPIs, keeping staff abreast of progress as required Update managers on the progress of their travel teams activities as required and on an ongoing basis Key travel documents including policies and procedures are developed, utilised and socialised with users. Ensuring operational support to all PNG programs is timely, responsive, and undertaken within the principles of Value for Money approach. Relevant tertiary qualification or relevant experience in administration, project management, social science and/ or another relevant discipline Demonstrated over 3 years working experience in the corporate environment Demonstrated experience coordinating and managing administrative, travel and logistics duties Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills in English and Tok Pisin Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially MS Outlook, MS Word, and Excel An understanding of the reporting requirements of government and donors How to Apply Please ensure to address the Key Selection Criteria (About You) in your cover letter, and submit your application online, along with your CV as a single document.
