JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality respiratory care to patients in various settings, including acute care hospitals and pediatric units.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Current license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in Ontario.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and sound critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Previous experience in an acute care or hospital setting is an asset.
  • Bilingual in English and French is preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver respiratory therapy treatments and procedures as prescribed by physicians. * Assess patients’ respiratory status and respond to any clinical changes.
  • Operate and maintain respiratory therapy equipment, including ventilators, oxygen delivery systems, and nebulizers.
  • Monitor patient progress and document responses to therapy; adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Provide education to patients and families on respiratory care practices and equipment use.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gases (ABGs), spirometry, and pulmonary function testing.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Ensure adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in emergency situations, providing airway management and other critical support.
