Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced Med Surg Registered Nurse for a travel assignment at a Level II Trauma Center in Lubbock, Texas. This role supports a newly opened acute care surgery and trauma-focused unit with a mix of surgical and medical patients. POSITION OVERVIEW This assignment is ideal for Med Surg nurses comfortable working in a fast-paced acute care environment with surgical overflow and trauma-related cases. ASSIGNMENT DETAILS • 13-week contract • 3x12 Night shifts • 19:00–07:00 • Every other weekend required (6 shifts per 6-week period) • Floating required within acute care units • Self-scheduling model COMPENSATION Because travel rates change frequently based on market demand and facility needs, our recruiters provide the most current and competitive pay packages during your initial conversation. Each compensation package is customized and may include taxable hourly wages along with tax-free stipends when applicable. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide care for acute care surgery and med surg patients • Manage post-operative and emergency general surgery cases • Administer medications including insulin and PCA • Perform IV therapy and blood product administration • Monitor respiratory support including BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC • Provide wound care and manage surgical drains • Participate in rapid response and code teams • Document care in Epic EMR UNIT OVERVIEW • New acute care surgery and trauma unit • 27-bed unit • Patient ratio approximately 1:5 • Adult and geriatric population • Level II Trauma Center • Epic charting system Requirements • Minimum 1 year Med Surg RN experience required • BLS and ACLS required • Epic charting experience required (HARD STOP) • Experience with IV therapy, blood products, and wound care required • Experience with respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP/HFNC required • Ability to float within acute care units required • Must meet local radius rule (50 miles; locals accepted at lower rate) • Compact RN license required at submission • RTO must be submitted at time of submission • Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays Important Notes: • First-time travelers accepted • Facility does not accept background hits • Only one Providence facility submission allowed at a time • Return staff eligible after 3 months • 2 supervisory references required covering 1 year within last 3 years • Modules non-billable (average 16 hours pre-start and annually) Join our VIP list to get first access to our best openings: https://stforms.co/heartlinestaffing/travelnurse Not ready to apply?
