Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a travel PACU assignment at a Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Anchorage, Alaska. This role supports Phase I PACU recovery for a diverse surgical population, requiring strong critical thinking, airway management, and post-anesthesia monitoring skills. POSITION OVERVIEW This assignment is ideal for PACU nurses comfortable managing high-acuity post-operative patients, including airway support, cardiac monitoring, and rapid response to post-anesthesia complications. ASSIGNMENT DETAILS • 13-week contract • Day shift 3x12s • Variable shifts including: 0700–1900 0800–2000 0900–2100 1000–2200 1100–2300 • Weekend requirement: 1 shift per month • On-call requirement: 1 call shift per month • No floating required COMPENSATION Because travel rates change frequently based on market demand and facility needs, our recruiters provide the most current and competitive pay packages during your initial conversation. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide Phase I PACU recovery care for post-surgical patients • Monitor airway, respiratory status, and hemodynamics • Manage IV medications including vasopressors and analgesics • Recognize and respond to dysrhythmias and complications • Administer blood products and reversal agents as needed • Manage sedation recovery and pain control • Collaborate with anesthesia and surgical teams • Document care in Epic EMR WORK ENVIRONMENT • Magnet-designated acute care hospital • Level II Trauma Center • 407 staffed beds • PACU with 1:2 patient ratios • Epic charting system • Free parking Requirements • Minimum 1 year PACU experience REQUIRED • Phase I PACU experience REQUIRED • Active Alaska RN license REQUIRED at submission for Auto Offer • ACLS, BLS, and PALS REQUIRED • Ability to manage 1:2 patient ratios • Experience with airway management and cardiac monitoring required • Must be comfortable with post-anesthesia recovery protocols • Must meet 50-mile radius rule • No locals accepted • RTO must be submitted with application • Must be willing to work 2 of 3 major holidays Important Notes: • First-time travelers accepted • Pediatric PACU experience preferred • Epic experience preferred • No floating required • Modules non-billable (avg 16 hours) • High-acuity surgical recovery environment Join our VIP list to get first access to our best openings: https://stforms.co/heartlinestaffing/travelnurse Not ready to apply?
