The Traveling Chef is responsible for supporting SLR communities, as assigned, with the entire operation of the culinary department, including the training and supervision of all department associates, helping maintain inventory of food, supplies and equipment, helping with managing the budget, preparing and serving food/refreshments, overseeing set-up for all meals and special events, and ensuring the cleanliness and smooth functioning of the kitchen and dining room to provide a gracious dining experience for residents. The Traveling Chef will support with training and serve as a resource to communities on an as needed basis..   REQUIREMENTS: * Degree in Culinary Arts or Hotel/Restaurant Service preferred;  * Certification in “Safe Serve” mandatory; Food Service Sanitation course sponsored by the National Education Foundation/National Restaurant Association preferred * Prior attendance at seminars/workshops to develop skills in management and food services * Previous experience cooking in a similar environment; ability to follow directions and work well under pressure and at a constant pace to ensure that meals are ready for designated time * Desire to serve seniors and a dedication to improving their quality of life * Proficiency in reading, writing, understanding and speaking English * Comfortable with computer technology. Ability to become proficient in systems SLR uses: Google Apps for Work (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides) and/or Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) * Team player; demonstrated ability to work with a diverse workforce; leadership skills with the ability to promote a culture of teamwork, cooperation, enthusiasm and customer service * Physical ability and endurance to move about the kitchen, service kitchen and dining room as required in the performance of job responsibilities; physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds * Must have reliable transportation Not ready to apply just yet but have questions?
