Travelling HVAC-R Engineer - COSTA Riding Team
Your Responsibilities:
Plant Operations: Supporting the onboard teams in securing the safe, reliable, energy-efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of all ventilation and cooling systems and refrigerated equipment.
Inspections and reporting: Conducting regular inspections to establish a high-quality baseline of the HVAC-R systems’ condition. Including early detecting of any potential deficiencies and arranging and/or proposing the required corrective action. Conducting inspections in preparation of HVAC-R projects which are planned for the execution during dry-dock periods and/or in operation.
Project Supervision: Leading of HVAC-R projects as on-site manager during operation and dry dock.
Training and development: Detecting training opportunities for the onboard HVAC teams and providing proposals accordingly. Providing of immediate instructions and demonstrations as required, hands-on and theoretical training in technical systems as well as computer-based work/management tools.
Reporting: Regular reporting of statuses, findings and related proposals to the office (HVAC SI and Ship Manager), sharing the reports with the Chief Engineer and HVAC Engineer.
Your Profile:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or similar with main subjects focusing on Refrigeration/Ventilation mechanic and automation.
Licenses and certificates: All the relevant safety certificates for onboard personnel, F-Gas certificate, unlimited
Experience: Several years of professional experience, in an officer position, with the operation of large and complex HVAC and cooling systems on cruise ships or large ferries. Previous land side experience with the design and/or construction and/or operation of large and complex HVAC and cooling systems will form an advantage.
Skills: Excellent understanding of the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the HVAC and cooling systems on every level including the electric and electronic parts and subsystems, with outstanding hands-on capabilities.
Knowledge and experience with computer-based management and procurement systems, the ability to understand easily non-familiar systems.
Qualities: Team player, high degree of service and result orientation, as well as readiness to travel.
Ability to demonstrate and apply skills under pressure. Openness and willingness to share knowledge with colleagues and able to provide comprehensible and comprehensive instructions and training.
Communication: Fluency in written and spoken English is essential for effectively interacting with colleagues onboard and in the office. Italian (and/or German) language skills are an advantage.
