GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION: Perform a variety of routine clerical, accounting and administrative work in executing the duties of the County Treasurer’s office. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform all duties associated with helping the public. Read and remain current of legal statutes and procedures. This position requires consistent punctuality and attendance. The primary location of employment for this position is the designated Delta County location/office with the exception of duties that are performed off site as required in responsibilities. The employee is required to perform most (generally, 95%) of assigned duties from this designated office location to allow for client, customer and coworker access and collaboration, unless prior written approval for an alternative arrangement, such as temporary remote work, has been granted by the employee's direct supervisor and/or department head and maintained in the employee personnel file. GENERAL JOB DUTIES: Receive and process tax payments made with cash, check or credit card. Assist in preparation of tax sale list and in operation of tax lien sale. Issue and post Mobile Home Authentications certifying appropriate taxes are paid. Issue Mobile Home Moving Permits. Research back taxes as needed. Answer phone. Issue Certificates of Taxes Due & sign when necessary. Receive and receipt all money deposits made to the County. Post daily bank activity. Balance books daily and make bank deposits daily. Combine daily and monthly computer tax payments by operator for bookkeeping. Process back tax redemption on tax liens. Post all appropriate tax information to the tax roll. Provide public with tax information and other general information. Work well with others in a cooperative atmosphere showing respect and support. Perform other similar and related duties as assigned. Cross train with Public Trustee Department. Should the Board of County Commissioners or another authorized representative issue a local disaster declaration in Delta County, all Delta County employees may be called upon to serve as disaster service workers. Requirements Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Two (2) years of experience dealing with the public in an office setting. Basic knowledge of accounting and some knowledge of property ownership and transfer helpful. Combination of education and experience could waive specific requirement. Licenses/Certifications: Current and valid Colorado Driver’s License PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical Requirements: Walk, stand, sit, type, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or tools, reach with hands and arms, talk, listen, hear, read, see, lift. Lifting: 25 pound requirement Exposure to Elements: Normal office conditions Handling of Dangerous Equipment: None Risk of Assault or Injury: Verbal assault on the telephone or in person is not uncommon.
