ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

In this vital frontline role, you’ll be the first point of contact for families seeking support. You’ll provide compassionate, trauma-informed triage and comprehensive assessments that explore the whole family’s needs—identifying risks, vulnerabilities, and strengths. With every call, every visit, and every plan you create, you’ll be planting the seeds of stability and hope.

  • Respond swiftly and sensitively to new referrals using evidence-informed assessment tools.
  • Engage with families through flexible and culturally safe approaches including phone, home visits, and community meetings.
  • Make critical decisions around child safety and wellbeing, ensuring timely support.
  • Act as a specialist resource for the Family Connect & Support team, bringing expert insight on risk and safety planning.
  • Build trusted pathways with local service providers and ensure families transition seamlessly to longer-term support.

Your Qualifications & Experience

  • A degree in social sciences or related
  • Experience in child, youth or family work
  • Experience assessing risk and working with families facing vulnerability
  • Knowledge of child protection and local service systems
  • Cultural responsiveness, particularly when working with Aboriginal and CALD families
  • A current NSW WWCC and current driver’s licence
