Description

Pioneer Construction is looking for a hard-working, self-motivated employee with a proven record of safety and reliability to fill the position of Truck & Coach Mechanic in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
The Truck and Coach Mechanic will require a high level of motivation, professionalism, and independence. This is a full-time permanent position available with a competitive wage, group benefit package, pension plan options, and an Employee Family Assistance Program.

EDUCATION:

  • Truck and Coach Technician or 310T Certification
  • 2+ years work experience
  • Valid G license required.
  • D-Z license an asset.
  • Bring your own tools.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and ability to repair trucks, trailers and/or power equipment,
  • Mechanical aptitude, analysis and problem-solving skills,
  • Ability to work as efficiently as possible with minimal supervision,
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers,
  • Ability to adapt to last-minute changes as dictated by the needs of our customers,
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service,
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices,
  • Abide by all Company policies including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental, Human Resources policies.
  • Ability to lift and carry 25kg.
Responsibilities
  • Completing maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repair various issues relative to vehicles and heavy trucks (gasoline and diesel)
  • Service and repair on trucks in the shop and on-site
  • Perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical maintenance.
  • Anticipate and troubleshoot breakdowns, list parts required and process orders.
  • Knowledge of vehicle reports and CVOR
  • Perform daily/weekly/monthly/yearly service on units as required.
  • Ability to road test vehicles & safety equipment
  • Document all repairs on work orders or computer system. Complete and file appropriate service inspection sheets when required. Ensure all parts are marked on a daily basis.
  • Communicate with operations and supervisory staff on availability of equipment.
  • Have the ability to prioritize jobs.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Prepare daily service reports.
  • Display professionalism toward our company and customers
  • Must maintain a clean and tidy work environment and equipment, both interior and exterior
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures: safety standards operations, maintenance, training, cleanliness standards, etc.
