Description A Marshall Farms Truck Driver delivers the animals efficiently and safely to their point of destination with a minimal amount of stress, as well as completing all required documentation contingent on the type of order, and in compliance with all applicable DOT and USDA regulations. This position is a grade D70 with a range of $20.69 - $31.05/Hour. Duties Include: · Be cognizant of necessary documentation and observe all DOT and USDA regulations related to shipment of live animals. · Plan and coordinate the trip according to Marshall Farms’ and customer requirements, while considering personal safety and security. · Ensure that documentation is correct, including the contact names and phone numbers for each delivery. · Perform pre-trip vehicle inspections. · Ensure the animals are properly loaded and secured into the truck and provided with sufficient feed and water for the duration of the trip. · Proficiently and safely operate all Marshall Farms’ delivery vehicles. · Ensure all feeding, watering and visual inspection protocols are followed. · Properly operate and maintain climate controls in the truck's cargo area and continually monitor. · Monitor the health and temperament of the animals. · Deliver animals to the customer site and/or airport, while exercising extreme professionalism. · Contact the main office in a timely manner regarding problems with animals either prior to delivery or at customer’s facility. · Be cognizant of and perform all international and domestic pre-shipment procedures including unloading the animals, providing fresh feed and water, and complete and sign the appropriate documentation upon arrival to the airport. · Perform post-trip vehicle inspection and maintain Driver’s Vehicle Inspection Report book. · Maintain accurate logbooks or electronic log records. · Complete Trip Report including all duty status changes, state lines, animal observations, temperature recordings, etc. · Assist in updating individual driver file, maintain appropriate medical certification and CDL licensure, and drug & alcohol testing as required by DOT. Requirements Education/Licenses: High School Diploma or GED and minimally a current CDL Class B license (license information retained in DOT mandated driver file). Familiar with DOT and USDA regulations related to shipment of live animals. Work Conditions: Drivers work within USDOT regulated cycles, with specific driving and rest-period limitations. Drivers may be required to work during all hours of the day with extended periods of time away from home. Drivers may be required to drive in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions. Drivers are also responsible for loading and unloading cargo and animal handling. Physical Requirements: Most of the time is spent sitting or standing in the same location or there may be a need to stoop regularly or move/lift material or equipment up to approximately 100 lbs.
