POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Truck drivers are responsible to the safe and effective operation of a wide variety of company vehicles. Our trucking fleet consists of tandem axle dump trucks, tractors, slinger trucks, pup trailers, quad trailers, end dump trailers and lowbed trailers.

NECESSARY SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

· Experience driving tandem axle dump trucks and trailers
· Experience loading and securing equipment on trailers
· Ability to work with minimal supervision
· Ability to identify and avoid high risk activities
· Demonstrated ability to operate a broad range of excavators, loaders and backhoes for the purpose of loading trucks
· Ability to maintain written records
· Ability to follow directions and adapt to changing priorities
· Ability to liaise with the public and other businesses
· Familiarity with the Cowichan Valley and surrounding area

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

The following education or experience are required for this position:

· Minimum five years commercial driving experience

• Valid BC Driver’s License, Class 1 and a satisfactory driver’s abstract
• WHMIS Training

The following education or experience will be considered an asset:

• Occupation First Aid - Level 1 or equivalent
