Description The Truck Driver - Class B CDL operates any vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more; or any such vehicle towing another vehicle that has a gross vehicle weight rating of not more than 10,000 pounds (rollback truck, dump truck, water truck, etc.). This position moves construction materials, equipment and waste materials to and from job sites and within job sites. The Truck Driver also spreads materials on rough or graded surfaces. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Maintains a high level of safety on the job site, off the job site and on all public roads, by observing applicable laws and regulations of appropriate jurisdictions and Brubacher rules and procedures. Includes turning in required documents in a timely manner (i.e. stone tickets and/or any other documents/reports that may be required). Also, maintain their driver logs on a daily basis through an ELD (electronic logging device) and ensuring they are correct. Ensures that safety and emergency equipment is in good working order by doing pre and post trips. Required to know start up and shut down procedures of heavy equipment and movement of attachments as well as proper procedures for safely securing the equipment on the low boy trailer. Operates vehicle with complete control in all directions including backing truck and trailer into confined spaces and on rough or soft surfaces. Maintains safe speed for the current driving conditions. Secures the loaded fill or stone material by tarping each load. Knows the height and the capacity of the truck and gear mechanisms. Attaches or detaches ancillary parts and equipment to vehicles. Must be observant of traffic on and off the road; observes the position of people, structures and equipment on the work site and is extremely careful to avoid injury or damage. Communicates with drivers, supervisors, operators, and laborers about the alignment/adjustment of material using hand signals. Observes and is alert to driving hazards on and off the road. Adjusts driving for various conditions such as fog, rain, snow, ice and extreme heat and cold. Understands and practices accident prevention procedures. Follows appropriate DOT regulations for hazardous materials. Keeps vehicles and equipment clean. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Class B CDL Required. High school diploma or GED is required. One to two years of experience is preferred.
