The Truck Driver 1 assists with tree planting and stump removal operations on streets and in parks. They drive up to 1-ton trucks with trailers and utilize hand tools to complete their tasks. The duties involve the use of specialized skills including those required for small equipment operations and the work generally requires accuracy and precision. This position will be part of a team removing stumps on streets and in parks.    Specific Duties & Responsibilities Drives a light truck or 1-ton to transport materials, tools and equipment and crew members to worksites Tows trailer and required equipment Performs all work associated with stump removal and tree planting operations Assists stump grind operations with hydro-vac units Operates hand guided mobile and stationary equipment used in construction and maintenance task Performs related work as required   Qualifications Education and Experience: Completion of eighth grade supplemented by related courses where applicable and related experience in one or more areas of skill development Experience working within proximity to heavy equipment Experience working with roadside safety setups   Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of the rules of safe operation and the precaution to be taken to avoid accidents in driving a light or medium weight truck. Thorough knowledge of the methods, practices and rules of safe operation of tree planting and stump removal equipment Good knowledge of the standard specifications, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in stump removal, invasive plant management, mobile and stationary maintenance and construction. Good knowledge and experience working with trees and underground utilities Good knowledge and experience of the methods, practices and rules of safe operation of hand and power tools used to supress invasive species Working knowledge of the functions of the branch concerned and the established practices in carrying out the work. Ability to exercise considerable independence of judgment and action in the work. Skill in the operation and servicing of construction and maintenance equipment and in the use of tools used in minor repair tasks.
