Job description: CDL—A Tractor Trailer Driver Job Summary: Our Drivers at Lapham-Hickey Steel are an important point of contact with our customers. Load, secure and deliver flat-rolled coil steel materials in a safe, efficient, timely and professional manner. Responsibilities and Duties: * Drive Tractor Trailer to make steel deliveries as dispatched by LH Rome. * Conduct Pre-trip and Post-trip inspections. * Keep track of on-duty hours and driving hours by use of JJ Keller ELD System or manual log book. * Position cargo to meet legal weight limits * Secure cargo by safest way possible in accordance with DOT guidelines. * Keep cargo protected from weather and damage by using tarp and chain protectors. * Keep paperwork organized and accurately turn in payroll. * Take truck to shop for regular maintenance or repairs as needed. * Document and report any incidents or accidents. Take pictures and remove debris if possible. * Wear all PPE as required where loading or unloading. * Be professional when dealing with the public and customers * Other duties as instructed by management Qualifications and Skills: * Must have a current unrestricted Class A CDL License. * Driving Experience Recommended. * High School Diploma or GED. * Basic Computer Skills * While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and talk or hear. * The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds and to climb onto the bed and into the cab of the truck.
