Job Details Job Location: NSC-Greensboro Family Store - GREENSBORO, NC Position Type: Full Time Regular Salary Range: $13.00 - $16.50 Hourly Job Category: Store Truck Driver Location: Greensboro Family Store - Greensboro, NC Position Type: Regular Full Time About this opportunity: Drives Salvation Army truck along scheduled route to pick-up donations and/or deliver merchandise to customers; operates the truck in compliance with established Salvation Army standards and state driving regulations; lifts, carries, loads and unloads variety of donations including furniture, appliances, clothing, etc.; ensures the safety, security, and accountability of the vehicle and donations at all times; assists in performing work in the family store and warehouse. Key Responsibilities Reviews scheduled pick-ups to ensure they are scheduled for the correct day of the week and geographical location. Organizes scheduled pick-ups by most direct routes to save time and fuel consumption. Prepares donation receipts for customers; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same. Inspects donated items briefly to ensure they can be used according to established policies and procedures; explains policy to customers regarding the types of items that can be accepted. Lifts, carries, and/or hauls donations into truck; packs items in track in a manner that maximizes use of space, protects items from damage, and ensures safety (this applies to donators’ property as well so that door facings, etc. and outside areas (including trees) are not damaged. Unloads donations from truck upon arrival at warehouse; distributes items to appropriate locations in the warehouse. Ensures the truck meets the scheduled maintenance and performs operators maintenance in accordance with established standards. Drives carefully and observes/complies with all traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers. What we are looking for in you: Education and Experience: High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred but not required, AND One (1) year experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van, OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Licenses and Certifications Valid State Driver's License Certified Fork Lift Operator Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Work requires riding in a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull heavy (50-100+ lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment frequently. Heavy mobility; duties are usually performed by combinations of standing, walking, climbing ladders or steps, bending, reaching, or transporting merchandise on frequent change basis relieved by fewer periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.
