JOB SUMMARY:

Building truck equipment since 1960, we have experience producing a full line of snowplows, combination dump bodies, conventional dump bodies, material spreaders, de-icing material application equipment, as well as our industry disrupting Tow Plow. Viking-Cives is also a leading distributor of various hydraulic systems, dump bodies, and an assortment of related truck equipment. We represent many of the leading truck equipment manufacturers throughout North America and have the knowledge and experience to install even the most complicated snow and ice truck equipment packages. In Canada, our products are built and installed through our main plant in Mount Forest, Ontario, and through our factory stores in Calgary and Edmonton. In this role, the successful person will provide direction to department personnel, monitor quality of work, and ensure employees receive the proper training. The Lead Hand will assist with daily department operations including process and procedure improvement activities, as well as enforce health and safety policies.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Detail oriented with good organizational skills
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Knowledge in fluid power and hydraulic systems
Knowledge in mechanical systems, mechanical aptitude
Knowledge in 12V and 24V electrical/control systems, truck air systems
Knowledge of welding applications in relation to raw materials such as: carbon steel, stainless, aluminum, etc.
Ability to read and understand technical drawings and schematics
Flexible, dedicated, motivated, challenge seeker, results driven
Ability to work with others and independently
Strong organizational, diagnostic, time management, supervisory skills (past experience preferred)
The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Clean disciplinary record
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic installation on commercial vehicle equipment and accessories
Experience with Snow Removal Equipment Installation on light and heavy trucks preferred
Computer experience with word documents, spreadsheets, ERP software and MRP software
Courses or training in developing employees, systems, or business culture preferred
Class 5 Drivers License

Coordinate daily production floor activities and delegate assignments to production personnel
Maintain and complete all required company documentation needed by departments in the time frame expected
Ensure and review employee documentation that is required to be completed by the company in the time frame expected
Ensure all inspections of equipment, tools and PPE are completed daily as per company policies
Time manage employees based on job requirements and maintain time schedules needed to complete tasks
Supervise tasks for direct reports and ensure that deadlines are respected
Ensure compliance with the production plan, product quality standards, company’s policies and regulations as well as health and safety practices
Monitor and enforce safety policies
Communicate clear expectations to production personnel, keep them informed of matters pertaining to their job, and assist with the development of personnel growth opportunities
Help identify the requirements of material/workflow through the facility
Maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times by educating and directing personnel
Monitor and enforce work start, break, and stop times of the production floor personnel
Coordinate cleanups where necessary
Ensure all stations are producing product to the company’s quality standards
Attend and participate in meetings when required
Read and interpret drawings
Uphold all ISO and OSHA/CCOHS standards applicable to the responsibilities above
Address conflicts of interest, work with Shop Supervisor and Branch Manager to provide solutions
Lead the production floor personnel and maintain a positive work atmosphere
Act as an employer representative and answer employee questions
Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment
