Description The Truck Salesperson is responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience while driving profitable, long-term sales growth for Matthews Motors. This role requires a consultative, relationship-driven approach to selling commercial trucks and equipment, ensuring customers receive the right solution for their operation today and remain a trusted partner for future fleet needs. Salespersons are expected to follow the ABCDEF Sales Framework as the foundation of all customer interactions. Requirements Core Sales Framework – ABCDEF A – Assess Evaluate customer operations, including routes, payloads, duty cycles, fleet utilization, budgets, timelines, staffing needs, and compliance requirements. Identify short- and long-term fleet needs before recommending vehicle, body, equipment, or upfit solutions. Understand customer applications across industries including construction, utilities, municipalities, government agencies, delivery, towing, landscaping, service, and transportation. Utilize available tools (RigDig, MMG lists, CRM data, fleet information, and market intelligence) to prepare prior to customer contact. B – Build (Trust) Build long-term customer relationships based on integrity, reliability, and consistency. Serve as a trusted advisor rather than a transactional salesperson. Maintain professionalism in all interactions with customers, vendors, manufacturers, and internal teams. Develop relationships that position Matthews Motors as the customer's first call for future vehicle and equipment needs. C – Communicate Communicate proactively and clearly with customers and internal departments including sales management, service, parts, fabrication, upfit, finance, accounting, and administration. Ensure customer expectations are aligned across all departments throughout the sales and delivery process. Practice transparent and frequent communication with both internal and external stakeholders. Provide regular updates regarding production schedules, chassis availability, body installations, and delivery timelines. D – Demonstrate Demonstrate products in a way that is convenient and valuable for the customer. Conduct test drives, job-site visits, walk-arounds, ride-alongs, and virtual demonstrations as needed. Demonstrate how vehicle configurations, bodies, and equipment improve productivity, efficiency, and safety. Ensure all new and used inventory is inspected and understood prior to customer presentation. E – Educate Educate customers on the Features, Advantages, and Benefits (FAB) of: Heavy-duty, medium-duty, and light-duty commercial vehicles Truck chassis and powertrain options Bodies, equipment, and vocational applications Upfit solutions and customization capabilities Matthews Motors' service, parts, mobile service, fabrication, and long-term support capabilities Stay knowledgeable and current on all OEM product lines, industry trends, and emerging technologies including alternative fuels and electrification where applicable. F – Facilitate Facilitate the entire sales process from prospecting and quoting through delivery and post-sale support. Coordinate internally to remove friction, solve problems, and ensure an exceptional customer experience. Monitor build schedules, body installations, OEM production timelines, and delivery commitments. Follow through with customers throughout the entire lifecycle of their fleet, positioning Matthews Motors as the first call for future replacements, additions, and service needs for years to come. Primary Responsibilities (Based on an 8-hour workday) Maintain regular contact with current customers to ensure satisfaction Follow up promptly on all prospect leads Log all customer calls and activities into CRM Record and submit customer-related expenses with receipts daily/weekly Write complete and accurate sales orders and required paperwork per dealership policy Stay informed of current vehicle inventory, pricing, and location Verify accuracy of online inventory listings weekly Arrange vehicle inventory on the lot in a professional and presentable manner Attend sales meetings, trade shows, training sessions, and dealership events as scheduled/needed Assist other departments as needed to support overall dealership success Training & Certification Requirements Maintain OEM certifications for applicable product lines (e.g., Isuzu, Hino, Dennis Eagle, Stellar, Ranger, etc.) Complete all required product and sales training modules Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and local market conditions Performance Expectations Demonstrates consistent use of the ABCDEF Sales Framework Builds repeat business and long-term customer relationships Maintains accurate documentation and communication Represents Matthews Motors with professionalism and integrity at all times Compensation Competitive base salary Uncapped commission Vehicle allowance or company vehicle Cell phone and technology package Health insurance Paid vacation and holidays 401(k) Ongoing product and manufacturer training Career advancement opportunities Why Matthews Motors?
