MacKay’s Truck & Trailer Center is growing, and we are currently seeking Truck & Transport technicians to join our team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. MacKay’s is a well-established family-owned business with over 40 years experience operating full-line Truck, Trailer & Compact Equipment dealerships, with locations in Truro and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island as well as Moncton New Brunswick.
We currently have openings on our day shift and evening shifts for permanent full-time technicians. This is not a flat rate shop; technicians are paid hourly. We offer a fast paced, professional safe environment. MacKay’s provides employees with the most up to date manufacturers’ training and holds safety to highest standards.

Duties include, but are not limited to: Diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, and replacing parts and components on small, medium, and heavy-duty trucks as well as routine and preventative maintenance. Providing excellent customer service through efficient time management and collaboration with team members on the status of repairs on assigned jobs. Follow safe work practices and maintain a clean work area.

Experience:

  • Canadian Red Seal Truck & Transport certified or a Truck & Transport Apprentice with experience in the Truck & Transport trade. Heavy-Duty Equipment or Automotive Red Seal certified are considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with a strong attention to detail and the capability to adhere to precise instructions.
  • Relevant safety training for the trade, combined with a strong aptitude for learning new technologies.
  • Additional certifications and competencies, such as welding, cutting, and fabrication, are advantageous.
  • Training in Cummins engine systems and certification as a Mack/Volvo Master Technician are highly valued.
  • A Class One driver’s license is considered an asset.
