CommScope is hiring a Trucking Operations and Safety Compliance Manager for its Cable Transport division at its Catawba, NC, facility.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:

  • Five or more years of safety experience in the trucking/transportation industry and/or Certified Director of Safety.
  • Previous experince leading a team
  • Working knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR).
  • Hands-on experince with Onboard technology such as TMW or Peoplenet
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office and On-board Technology.
  • Previous experience managing a budget and P&L
  • Ability to be in the Catawba, NC office five days a week

Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal DOT regulations, State regulations, and Company policies and procedures.
  • Guide supervisory personnel by assisting in the recruitment, testing, hiring, and orientation of new drivers.
  • Conduct safety audits of all Cable Transport operations, and makes recommendations to management for safety training, and safety policies and procedures and conduct in-house safety training programs on topics such as HAZMAT, Substance Abuse, Housekeeping practices, Proper Lifting Techniques, Shop Safety, and DOT Regulations.
  • Develop and implement safety training programs and assist the manager in conducting regularly scheduled safety meetings. Counsel and discipline drivers regarding safety-related deficiencies and DOT regulations.
  • Monitor the Safety Bonus Program by reviewing all damages, determine driver Preventability and assist insurance carriers with accident investigations and recommends preventive action.
  • Report, investigate and maintain files on all vehicle accidents. Through accident investigation, training, and monitoring the worker’s compensation process, assist in reducing worker compensation claims.
  • Responsible for accurate and prompt payment of fuel tax, highway use tax, ad road use taxes.
  • Maintain Driver Qualification files and a systematic program for drug and alcohol testing, physicals, and CDL license.
  • Responsible for screening of new job applicants – and scheduling interviews to be conducted with conjunction with their Manager and Human Resource department.
  • Support dispatch coordinators in day-to-day activities.
  • Train, develop, and evaluate drivers and dispatchers.
  • P&L responsibilities for Drivers and Administration to include planning and execution to achieve goals
