The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge, troubleshooting skills, and experience working with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and material handling equipment. This position ensures all fleet and yard equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with safety standards. Key Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on: Diesel and gas-powered trucks Forklifts (electric, propane, and diesel) Flatbed, enclosed, and utility trailers Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine issues Conduct DOT inspections and ensure fleet compliance Repair or replace brakes, suspension systems, transmissions, engines, and steering components Service hydraulic systems and lift mechanisms on forklifts Troubleshoot electrical systems, batteries, alternators, and wiring Perform welding and fabrication repairs as needed Maintain accurate service records and maintenance logs Ensure tools and work areas are clean and safe Respond to breakdowns and emergency repair needs Qualifications High school diploma or GED required 3+ years of experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic preferred Experience working on forklifts and trailers strongly preferred Knowledge of hydraulic systems and electrical diagnostics Ability to read technical manuals and schematics Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred but not required) Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in indoor/outdoor environments Preferred Skills ASE Certification (Diesel or Medium/Heavy Truck) Forklift repair certification Welding experience Strong problem-solving skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Work Environment Shop and outdoor yard environment Exposure to weather conditions, noise, grease, and heavy equipment May require occasional overtime or weekend work Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly pay (based on experience) Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays 401(k) with company match Opportunities for advancement
