Scope of Position: The Souls Harbour Rescue Mission Drop In Centre in Truro serves 50 - 80 guests on a daily basis. Those guests not only receive a meal but also have the opportunity to shop at Free Mart. Free Mart is set up in the same format as a store so that those using this program will feel like they are shopping. This provides a more dignified experience for our guests. As the Free Mart Coordinator, it is your responsibility to keep this room organized and fully stocked. Volunteers will be made available to assist.

NON-NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be willing to work according to the Souls Harbour Rescue Mission statement:
  Souls Harbour Rescue Mission exists to rescue people from poverty, addiction,
  and despair by offering emergency help, such as food, clothing, and shelter,

life changing recovery programs, and the Gospel Message.

• Must be willing to respect the Souls Harbour doctrinal statement (as per staff manual)
• Must be bondable - criminal record check required
• Must have basic first aid training - will provide if needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Work experience in similar areas
• Good organizational skills
• Patient and good listening skills
• Able to be assertive and firm with guests
• Ability to de-escalate difficult situations.
  Objectives: To maintain the practical aspects and operations of Free Mart.

• Ensure Free Mart is clean, organized and stocked at the beginning of each shift
• Supervise guests and volunteers while they are in Free Mart
• Communicate needs to the Mission Mart team on a weekly basis
• Assist guests with their needs to the best of our abilities
• Ensure Free Mart policies are being followed by everyone utilizing the program (ie. 3 items/week)
• Follow security and emergency procedures for accidents, trespassing, or violence.
• Write up incident reports when needed.
• Attend mandatory staff meetings and functions
• Other duties as assigned
