Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

As a Trustee of Horizon, you will play a key role in providing strategic leadership and governance to our charity. Working alongside fellow Trustees and the Senior Leadership Team, you will ensure the charity achieves its mission of fostering happier, healthier communities. You will also help oversee the delivery of high-quality services, safeguard financial sustainability, and ensure we effectively meet the diverse needs of the community we serve.

Key Responsibilities for Trustees

  • Contributing actively to the board of Trustees’ in giving firm strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, defining goals and evaluating performance.
  • Ensuring that the charity complies with its constitution, charity law and any other relevant legislation or regulations, works to fulfil its charitable objects and applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects.
  • Ensuring the effective and efficient management and administration of the charity.

WHAT DOES THE ROLE INVOLVE?

  • Attend monthly Board Meetings.
  • Oversee the financial management of the Trust’s resources.
  • Monitor the work and activities of the Trust including approval of the annual accounts.
  • Evaluate the Trust’s performance in relation to its objectives and targets.
  • Appoint the Chief Executive Officer and monitor their performance.
  • Be an ambassador for the Trust at functions, external events, meetings and in your own networks.
  • Setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets.
  • Delegate authority to the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Contribute actively to the Board of Trustees’ role in giving firm strategic direction to the Trust.
