As we implement an ambitious new strategy to double our voluntary income by 2030, we’re investing in the growth of our trust fundraising to help bring that vision to life.
We’re looking for a skilled and proactive Trusts and Foundations Manager to lead this work. In this role, you’ll be responsible for identifying funding opportunities, crafting compelling grant applications, and securing the resources we need to expand our impact. You’ll work closely with teams across the organisation to shape fundable projects and ensure our proposals reflect both our strategic priorities and the needs of the communities we serve.

Hours: 28 hours a week. Permanent contract.
Working pattern to be agreed with the successful candidate, within standard office hours (Monday to Friday).
Salary: £19.57 per hour.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Educated to A-Level or equivalent (i.e. capacity to learn, ability to recall and apply knowledge, analyse information, demonstrate critical thinking skills, and stick with challenging tasks over time).
  Desirable: A Fundraising qualification, certification or course/s in Trusts Fundraising, Bid Writing, Grant Writing & Reporting, Donor stewardship from recognised training providers such as the Institute of Fundraising, the Directory of Social Change, or other relevant training providers.

EXPERIENCE

• Demonstratable experience in grant writing with a proven track record of securing income from Trusts, Foundations, and/or Grant Makers.
• Experience in identifying, researching, and developing funding opportunities.
• Working effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Building and nurturing relationships with grant-making bodies.
• Working to ambitious targets and building and maintaining a pipeline.
  Desirable: 2+ years of experience in Trust and Foundation fundraising. Experience in securing £100,000+ grants and multiyear funding. Experience in using data insights to inform funding proposals. Experience in working with delivery staff to collect compelling quotes, beneficiary stories, and data to help bring projects to life for potential funders. Experience working with delivery staff and finance teams to help shape budgets and translate those into funders preferred language/templates. Experience reporting on KPIs, variances and forecasting.

KNOWLEDGE

• Understanding of the Trust and Foundation landscape, with awareness of tools and approach to researching potential funding matches.
• Basic understanding of project budgeting and grant compliance.
• Basic proficiency Microsoft Office Suite and capacity to learn
  Desirable: Understanding of relevant legislation and charity law affecting fundraising practice. Knowledge of the Code of Fundraising Practice, particularly section 12 regarding ‘Grant-Making bodies’.

SKILLS

• Ability to prepare compelling, persuasive, tailored funding proposals to inspire significant grants.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
• Strong prioritisation and time management skills and the ability to manage a full workload with limited supervision whilst working under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Research skills for conducting research to stay ahead of evolving funding landscapes and requirements.
  Desirable: Proficient with using and managing fundraising CRM systems to track and analyse donor information. Familiarity with Digital Fundraising Tools, knowledge of emerging digital tools and software relevant to trust and foundation fundraising.
