Description
Overview: We are seeking a technically skilled and safety-minded CNC Tube Laser Operator to join our production team. In this role, you will set up and operate state-of-the-art CNC tube laser cutting machines (such as Trumpf, BLM Group, or Mazak) to transform raw metal tubes, pipes, and structural profiles into the precision components that form high-end architectural facades and structural frameworks. This is not just pushing buttons; it requires mechanical aptitude, a focus on safety, and a sharp eye for tight 3D tolerances. You will be responsible for handling heavy materials, monitoring machine performance and assist gases, and verifying that complex intersecting cuts and features match precise engineering blueprints. We are looking for hands-on workers who take pride in precision and want to manufacture products that define city skylines. Compensation $21 - $25 Unlimited optional overtime Shift Monday to Thursday 1st Shift: 5:00am - 4:30pm 11-hour shifts Unlimited optional overtime Benefits Health, vision, dental 401(k) + match PTO Responsibilities: Set Up & Operate CNC Tube Lasers – Upload digital 3D cutting programs into the machine's CNC controller. Calibrate laser settings, adjust chucks and steady rests, and select the correct parameters based on the specific thickness, diameter, and shape (round, square, rectangular, or open structural profiles) of the metal being cut. Execute Safe Material Handling – Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, or sling setups to maneuver heavy bundles of raw tubing and structural shapes onto the machine's bundle loader or feeding system without damaging the material. Perform Critical Quality Inspections – Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) using precision tools like calipers, angle finders, and tape measures. Verify that the initial cut pieces strictly match the dimensional tolerances, hole placements, and complex coping/intersection profiles of the engineering blueprints before running the full batch. Monitor Machine Health & Process – Actively monitor the cutting process to ensure clean edges free of burrs and interior slag. Keep an eye on assist gas levels (oxygen, nitrogen), check for tool or lens wear, and perform routine preventative maintenance on the machine and automated loading systems. Manage Handoff & Organization – Perform light deburring if necessary, properly label finished parts, and organize them efficiently for a seamless handoff to the Welding and Fabrication teams for the next phase of manufacturing. Qualifications: Required High School Diploma or GED Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, engineering blueprints, and digital 3D cut files Experience using basic measuring tools (tape measures, digital calipers, protractors/angle finders) Physical ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, and lift/move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) safely Strong attention to detail to ensure precision cuts and spot edge defects Preferred Skills Previous experience operating CNC tube lasers (e.g., Trumpf TruLaser Tube, BLM Group, Mazak) Experience operating overhead cranes, jib cranes, and forklifts Familiarity with metal fabrication properties and handling long, heavy structural materials Basic understanding of CNC tube nesting software or CAD/CAM programs
Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC tube laser machines to produce precision metal components for architectural facades. Responsible for material handling, quality inspections, and routine machine maintenance to ensure tight 3D tolerances.
