TUBE LASER OPERATIVE
Location: Wolverhampton
Salary: £29,250 (Days) / £35,100 (Nights)
Hours: Rotating Days 06:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00 Monday to Friday OR Permanent Nights 22:00-06:00 Sunday to Thursday
REQUIREMENTS:
· Experience operating laser a laser machine is essential.
· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and job instructions.
· Experience operating an overhead crane.
· A strong attention to detail and commitment to precision.
· Valid forklift licence (desirable but not essential).
· A proactive attitude and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.
· Good communication and teamwork skills.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are currently seeking a Tube Laser Operative on behalf of our client, a UK leading steel stockholder and processor. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating tube laser cutting machinery, handling materials, and ensuring efficient workflow. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in manufacturing or engineering who thrives in a hands-on environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Operate overhead gantry cranes via radio remote/pendant control to load materials for laser cutting.
· Process lengths of steel with precision according to instructions.
Safely store processed materials in designated areas for easy accessibility.
· Drive and operate mobile plant equipment such as forklift trucks, side-trackers, and road-based vehicles for loading and transportation.
· Pick items for the laser to ensure continuous workflow and maximize laser capacity.
· Unload material and prepare warehouse for incoming loads.
· Complete daily pre-shift check sheets and follow safety procedures.
· Work efficiently to maximize laser production and minimize downtime.
· Liaise with CAD Technicians, fellow Operatives, and Management to ensure smooth operations.
· Report any laser/plant defects promptly to the Tube Laser Supervisor.
· Conduct stock checks as required.
· Follow instructions from the Tube Laser Supervisor to meet production targets.
