Description Tutor Coaching Coordinator Part-time, Hourly Position Expectations: The purpose of the Tutor Coaching Coordinator's role is to create and sustain long-term volunteer tutor training and coaching. The Tutor Coaching Coordinator will ensure that students are receiving quality instruction in three ways: they will assess and develop training materials for current tutors; they will schedule and conduct coaching sessions and observations with tutors; and they will establish a structure for "Tutor Leaders" to sustainably support ongoing training and mentorship. Accountability: The Tutor Coaching Coordinator is accountable to the Education Program Manager. Responsibilities: Education Program Coordination • Research instructional coaching to identify best practices. • Evaluate CMC's current library of tutor training materials and presentations. • Identify training needs and improvements by surveying tutors and staff. • Work with the Education Program Manager to create a training schedule based on needs identified in surveys. • Schedule and conduct regular coaching sessions to support tutor development and maintain instructional quality. • Provide constructive feedback to tutors. • Collaborate with the Education team to develop a sustainable "Tutor Leader" initiative that supports peer mentorship among tutors. • Monitor and assess the impact of coaching efforts on student learning outcomes. • Acts as a mentor and supervisor of volunteer tutors. Requirements Qualifications: • Training in Adult Basic Education and/or a related field. • Knowledge of the education resources and programs available in Linn County and surrounding areas. • Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning volunteers, clients, students, children, and staff or agency business. • Excellent written and verbal/oral communication skills. • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others as a part of a team. • Ability to develop rapport with people of all ages, backgrounds, and economic resources, and treat others in a friendly, courteous and appreciative manner. • Flexibility and ability to handle stress and new or undefined situations. • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize projects and tasks. • Ability to work with minimal supervision, take initiative, and manage multiple projects with changing priorities. • Computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and databases, and/or ability to learn new software and systems. • Behave as a professional representative of CMC and communicate the mission and activities. • Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues related to literacy, immigrants, refugees, women, poverty, and mental illness. • Commitment to the CMC mission and the values of the Sisters of Mercy.
