JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated experienced Tutor/Support Worker for part-time work to join our team (with potential to increase work hours). This role involves providing individual and group tutoring/support to children with neurodiversity. The ideal candidate will have experience in educational settings and a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that promotes learning and personal growth. Must have strong computer skills and be comfortable working in a Microsoft Windows environment, including Word, and Excel.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • An undergrad degree is preferred, a Bachelor of Education degree will be considered an asset.
  • Previous teaching experience or familiarity with educational methodologies is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with children, particularly those with disabilities or special education needs, is essential.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively and effectively as a team player.
  • Must have the ability to be flexible when working with neurodiverse students.
  • Must be comfortable working with students on math up to a grade 9 level.
  • Must have a class 5 driver’s license.
  • A genuine passion for working with children with neurodiversity and a commitment to promoting inclusivity within the educational setting.
  • Criminal Record check will be required upon hiring.

    Pay: $19,800.00-$31,680.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Assist children with neurodiversity on their daily online courses (Language Arts, Math, Socials, and Science) up to a grade 9 level
  • Support classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans and educational activities tailored to individual needs.
  • Utilize effective communication skills to interact with students, parents, and staff members.
  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students, helping them engage with learning materials and participate in classroom discussions.
  • Provide lunch hour supervision and afternoon support during extracurricular activities, which will include driving a maximum of 5 children to their afternoon activities and supporting them in that setting
  • Foster a positive learning environment by encouraging social interaction and collaboration among students.
  • Implement strategies for behavior management and support students in developing essential life skills.
  • Work Days: Monday Through Thursday: 9:00am to 2:30pm (potential for extra tutoring hours)
