Description

As a Tutorial, Pastoral & Intervention Officer, you will support our students to achieve highly, progress to aspirational destinations (including higher education and further study), and develop both academic and personal skills to promote success in their future careers and study.
This role is working 21 hours per week, Term time only 36 weeks per year.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • A minimum of a full level 3 qualification
  • GCSE A*- C or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in Maths and English or equivalent. (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A – C) Or prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability, and then, if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale

EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience of accurately and timely assessing in the workplace/classroom
  • Experience with learners in Adult Education.
  • Sound Knowledge of the social, economic and personal factors which present a risk to students

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Delivering the college’s mandatory tutorial schedule to allocated groups and developing tutorial sessions tailored to the cohort.
  • Ensuring Navigate is up to date with students’ tutorial, enrichment and work experience data
  • Liaising with course tutors to undertake the student progress reviews and ensure departmental compliance with SPR targets.
  • Ensuring departmental compliance with student survey completion and learner voice.
  • Ensuring the Access to HE and wider department students are supported and that associated policies and statutory guidance are adhered to and understood across all areas of responsibility.
  • Liaising with tutors to ensure students are meeting expected attendance targets.
  • Implementing intervention strategies to improve attendance for individuals and the department as a whole.
  • Minimising disruption to learning and teaching by ensuring high expectations and standards about compliant behaviour and behaviour for learning in line with the provisions Positive Behaviour Policy.
  • Ensuring the accurate and timely recording of behaviour incidents and interventions.
  • Ensuring students are punctual for lessons and move safely around the building.
  • Maintaining an overview of the students’ punctuality and attendance, ensuring parents/carers and partner schools/organisations are informed and involved.
  • Undertaking proactive and reactive meetings with students (and their teachers and parents/carers where relevant) related to addressing issues of behaviour and provision standards.
  • Supporting the tutors by both supporting and disciplining students as and when appropriate.
  • Liaising with SEND Advisors where appropriate
  • Liaising with external partners (universities) to provide students with interactive enrichment.
  • Ensuring all behavioural activity is appropriately recorded in a timely and accurate manner
  • Undertaking tasks relating to the effective management and storage of documentation, including ensuring strict confidentiality for service users.
