Position Summary
The Tutoring and Afterschool Program Coordinator is responsible for the planning, coordination, and implementation of individualized tutoring and enrichment activities for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This role ensures a supportive, structured, and engaging environment tailored to the developmental, academic, and social-emotional needs of each child.
Program Development & Coordination
- Design and implement a structured afterschool program that includes academic tutoring, social skills development, recreational activities, and therapeutic support as appropriate.
- Collaborate with clinical, educational, and behavioral staff to align programming with each child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or treatment goals.
- Develop daily and weekly schedules and ensure program goals are met.
Tutoring & Academic Support
- Oversee and support individualized or small-group tutoring sessions focused on literacy, math, homework help, and executive functioning skills.
- Adapt teaching strategies and materials to meet the unique learning needs of children with autism
- Monitor academic progress and communicate with families, schools, and therapists as needed.
- Provide written academic progress reports quarterly for each child enrolled in the tutoring program.
Staff Supervision & Training
- Recruit, train, and supervise tutoring and afterschool staff, including instructional aides, paraprofessionals, and volunteers.
- Provide coaching and support on working effectively with children with autism, including behavior management and communication strategies.
- Maintain staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage and support for all children.
Family & Community Engagement
- Communicate regularly with parents/caregivers regarding child progress, daily activities, and program updates.
- Organize family involvement activities and support parent education on academic and behavioral strategies.
- Serve as a liaison with schools, clinical providers, and community resources.
Operations & Compliance
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and progress reports.
- Ensure program safety, cleanliness, and compliance with all organizational and licensing standards.
- Track and manage materials, supplies, and program budget as needed.
