About the Role TV Production interns will: Join producers on field shoots, act as production assistants on location, generating, organizing, and gathering release forms, among other things Assist in logging and transcribing footage Support the producers as they research, shoot and edit segments for the monthly broadcast and the website. Support studio shoots by running teleprompter, welcoming guests, and acting as the production assistants Have the opportunity to pitch stories for shows currently in production. Write copy TV Production interns will learn: All aspects of television production including pre-production, production, and post-production How to research and develop interview questions How to summarize the content in short concise paragraphs The organizing and structuring of each program and how to offline edit Professional etiquette when going on shoots. Qualifications Those with experience using AVID are especially welcome. After Effects experience is a plus. Experience editing or producing preferred. In order for an application to be considered all of the below materials must be submitted. Resume Cover letter discussing career goals, computer and language skills and any specific, relevant broadcasting or media experience A two- or three-page writing sample A Link, if appropriate, to media or digital work A letter of recommendation from an individual who can speak to your relevant experience, background, skills and/or work ethic. *Individual must be a current junior or senior undergraduate student, graduate student or recent graduate (no more than three years from graduation date). *All WHYY employees are required to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. Proof will be required upon hiring.
Responsibilities
TV Production interns will assist producers on field shoots and support studio shoots. They will also log and transcribe footage, research, shoot, and edit segments for broadcasts.
