A K-12 public school in Alpharetta, GA is seeking skilled Teachers for the Visually Impaired to support students with vision loss throughout the academic year. This contract position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the educational development and independence of visually impaired learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students with visual impairments from kindergarten through 12th grade
  • Conduct assessments to determine students developmental needs and learning goals
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with parents, classroom teachers, and support staff
  • Provide orientation and mobility training to enhance student independence
  • Recommend and assist with the use of assistive technology and adaptive materials
  • Train classroom staff and families on best practices for teaching visually impaired students
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with K-12 students who have varying degrees of vision impairment
  • Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and vision-related teaching methods
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
