Description

ABOUT US

Overworld AMP is a pioneering, state-of-the-art Independent Alternative Provision, dedicated to serving the needs of neurodivergent young people aged 8–25. Many of our learners have experienced disrupted education, long absences, and negative associations with school. Our curriculum is built on a trauma-informed, ‘stage not age’ approach that prioritises engagement, trust, and belonging. We deliver education through highly flexible, personalised pathways that blend academic learning with holistic health, outdoor education, therapies, and creative enrichment. Our aim is to teach the learner, not just prepare them for exams, by embedding education through different occupational lenses and experiences. We work with the following awarding bodies:

  • AIM Qualifications and Assessment Group qualifications
  • Open Awards - functional mathematics and English exam centre
  • AIM Quality Mark short courses
  • ASDAN short courses
  • AQA Unit Award Scheme

QUALITIES YOU’LL NEED

  • A passion for working with young people, especially those with SEND/SEMH needs.
  • The ability to think outside the box and adapt approaches to diverse learning profiles.
  • Patience, empathy, humour, and adaptability.
  • A solutions-focused mindset and a strong sense of professionalism.
  • Agility to understand individual needs and indirect methods of embedding learning.
We are not looking for staff to work in isolation. At Overworld AMP, teaching is a collaborative process, rooted in our holistic model. Our priority is ensuring that learners are ready to engage, which begins with care, trust, and emotional safety. The teacher’s role is to guide and direct the education within this framework, working alongside support staff, mentors, and the Care Team to ensure that learning is meaningful and timely.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or on track to complete induction year.
  • A-level (or above) in either English and Mathematics or both.
  • Knowledge of SEND/SEMH practice and strategies.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Confidence in using ICT and creative tools to enhance learning.
  • Driving license is highly desirable.
Responsibilities

THE ROLE

We are seeking two creative, and compassionate Qualified Teachers (QTS) to join our Education Team. One must have English to A-level or higher and the other mathematics to A-level or higher. The teaching role at Overworld AMP is not about standing in front of a class and delivering content in a traditional sense. Instead, you will:

  • Oversee the compilation of evidence for certifications and qualifications, supplied by support staff who comprise HLTAs, CETs, AETs and junior staff with Mentoring at Level 2.
  • Direct and support the team in embedding learning across daily provision is the right way for the learner.
  • Ensure academic integrity and progression by guiding how learning is structured, recorded, and validated.

You will play a pivotal role, as part of a whole-team effort, in re-engaging learners with education at the point they are ready — building trust, scaffolding appropriately, and ensuring that learning is meaningful, accessible, and aligned with each learner’s stage of development and EHCP outcomes.

DAY-TO-DAY DUTIES

  • Collaborate with the Care Team, Therapists, and Careers Team to design holistic pathways and provide offer letters to our clients.
  • With the Care Team - ensure learners’ academic and personal development goals are being embedded across their provision.
  • Provide direction to support staff in delivering education, ensuring high-quality, differentiated provision.
  • Oversee evidence gathering for our learning programmes to pass our internal and external verification processes.
  • Plan, track progress and adjust provision using Tes EduKey platform as a whole team approach.
  • Contribute to EHCP reviews, reporting, and family communication.
  • Safeguard young people and model inclusive, respectful practice.
