Description Supervisor: FAST Head Coach Department: FAST Race Team Position Summary: Provide coaching/instruction to FAST athletes as scheduled Provide support to FAST Head Coach in the operations of the program Job Relationships: Responsible To: FAST Head Coach Employees Supervised: None Inter-Relationships: Ski and Snowboard School Staff, Ski Patrol, Ski Area Administration Duties and Responsibilities: Implement the organization’s mission, strategic goals, and objectives Work with athletes, on and off the snow, to ensure progress toward their goals Attend local an regional U14 races with athletes (Responsible for own transportation to and from all races. Lodging compensated for races requiring overnight stays.) Be available to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from mid-December through March. Willing to earn Level 100 USSA certification if not already certified. Communicate with parents, athletes and other coaches Participate in fund raising activities and events Promote winter sports competition for all levels of abilities and disciplines Participate in site and facilities preparation on and off snow as directed Represent 49° North and the FAST program in a professional manner at all times Requirements Qualifications: Certification: Current USSCA Level I, II, or III, PSIA Level I, II, or III or commensurate experience or education. Experience: Leadership and Management experience, social and communication skills, minimum 3 years of experience in snowsport instruction / coaching and competitions, ability to work autonomously in training and competition environments, ability to ski expert level ski runs and FIS Homologated courses, a Minimum 5 years coaching/teaching or background in racing Other Requirements: Knowledge of USSA philosophies, concepts, training and competition guidelines. Passion for working with kids, coaching, families and the sport of Ski Racing. Environmental Factors: Ability to work in adverse winter weather conditions Ability to stand for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours) Ability to regularly ascend several hundred vertical feet of mountainous terrain Ability to participate in calisthenics with athletes Occasional lifting of items weighing more than 60 pounds Sitting or standing for extended periods of time Values Implementation: Always responds to guests’ needs Seeks ways to improve guest service Take pride in knowing that 49 North is a quality ski resort -- The most affordable, friendly, family ski area in the region.
