This role focuses on designing and evolving the visual language, components, and interaction patterns that make up the Sanoma Learning designs. You will collaborate closely with frontend developers, and other designers to ensure the system is visually consistent, accessible, and easy to adopt. Key Responsibilities Design and maintain reusable components, patterns, and layouts in Figma. Own and evolve the shared Figma libraries, including variants, tokens, and documentation. Ensure all components and patterns are accessible by design, following WCAG and inclusive design best practices. Collaborate with developers to translate design specifications into framework-agnostic Web Components. Provide clear documentation, guidelines, and usage examples for designers and developers. Partner with product designers to ensure the designs support their needs and real-world use cases. Participate in reviews and provide feedback on new component or pattern proposals. Must-have requirements ✅ Expert-level skills in Figma, including creating, maintaining, and scaling component libraries, variants, and design tokens. ✅ Proven experience designing component-based systems (design systems, style guides, or pattern libraries). ✅ Solid understanding of typography, color theory, spacing, and visual hierarchy. ✅ Strong knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG, WAI-ARIA) and ability to design inclusive, accessible UI patterns. ✅ Experience collaborating with accessibility specialists, QA, and developers to ensure accessible implementation. ✅ Ability to create clear, structured documentation for design system usage. Strong collaboration and communication skills across disciplines. ✅ English proficiency: C1/C2 (both written and spoken communication). ✅ Spanish proficiency: B2/C1 (both written and spoken communication only for 2nd location: Spain Nice-to-have requirements 💠 Experience working with Web Components or framework-agnostic design systems. 💠 Familiarity with design tokens and how they map to code. 💠 Motion design or micro-interaction skills. 💠 Knowledge of responsive design and multi-platform adaptations. 💠 Contribution to open-source or internal design system projects. Responsibilities
The UI Designer will be responsible for designing and evolving the visual language, components, and interaction patterns for Sanoma Learning's designs. Key tasks include maintaining reusable components in Figma, owning shared libraries, and ensuring all designs adhere to accessibility standards.
