Description
We are looking for a highly skilled Product Designer (Mid-level) with experience designing complex digital products and the ability to translate real-world workflows into intuitive, high-quality user experiences. This role requires strong product thinking, hands-on design execution, and close collaboration with Product Management, Engineering, and clinical stakeholders. You will work on mobile and web products used daily by ophthalmologists, where clarity, efficiency, and trust are critical. You will directly contribute to Custom Surgical’s growth by improving usability, reducing friction in clinical workflows, and helping shape future AI-enabled product experiences. Tasks Own and drive the UI/UX design of Custom Surgical’s digital products (mobile app, web platform, and future AI-enabled tools); Translate clinical and operational workflows into intuitive user journeys and interfaces; Collaborate closely with Product Management to define problems, explore solutions, and validate concepts; Design user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI aligned with brand and design system standards; Work closely with engineering teams to ensure designs are technically feasible and well implemented; Conduct and synthesize user research, usability testing, and feedback from clinicians and internal teams; Build, maintain, and evolve a consistent design system across platforms; Balance usability, clarity, and aesthetics with clinical, technical, and regulatory constraints; Requirements Proven experience as a UI/UX or Product Designer working on complex digital products (SaaS, mobile, or B2B platforms); Strong portfolio demonstrating problem-solving, workflow design, and decision-making — not only visual polish; Experience designing end-to-end user journeys across mobile and web; Proficiency with modern design tools (e.g. Figma); Ability to work closely with product managers and engineers in an iterative, agile environment; Strong communication skills and the ability to explain and defend design decisions; Comfort working with non-technical users and incorporating real user feedback; Fluency in English (spoken and written). Nice to have (but not required): Experience in healthcare, medtech, or regulated software; Familiarity with accessibility, usability standards, or design systems at scale; Experience working in a startup or fast-growing company. What we expect from Custom Surgical Candidates: You are a protagonist, challenging the status quo and leading by example; You have a growth mindset; You are open, sincere, and honest in giving and receiving feedback frequently; You appreciate an international, young, and flexible company; You work well with clinicians and internal teams, and communicate clearly; You are proactive and take ownership of projects from beginning to end. Benefits Time flexibility; Home office when needed; No unnecessary bureaucracy — high autonomy to make decisions that strengthen relationships with KOLs; WellPass; Direct influence on the brand’s visibility and scientific credibility in the global ophthalmology community.
