Description

Job Introduction
Pinnacle Group are looking for a UK Tax Manager to join our Finance team on an initial 6-month fixed term contract (FTC). Reporting into the Group Financial Controller, the UK Tax Manager will complete an in-depth review of the Group’s tax base; focussing primarily on VAT and Employment Taxes in the context of a Group that has c. 20 statutory entities. The outcome of this review is likely to be a set of recommendations which, once actioned, will bring further resilience to the processes and procedures that the Group currently has in place to ensure its compliance with relevant tax legislation.

In a day-to-day context, the Tax Manager will:

  • Ensure that all relevant statutory returns are compiled accurately and submitted on time.
  • Liaise as appropriate with Hyde (Pinnacle’s shareholder) across any tax initiatives or projects that might be on-going at the time.

This is a hands-on role that requires both the need to be a tax specialist but also prepared to get into the weeds and own the company’s UK tax obligations.
Our Finance team is a trusted partner to the business, providing accurate financial reporting, robust controls, and strategic insight to support decision-making. We manage all core finance activities, including financial accounting, management reporting and tax compliance. The team works closely with operational leaders across the business to ensure financial integrity, optimise processes, and deliver value.
This is a hybrid role with travel once or twice a week into our Holborn Head Office. The role is paying approximately £75,000-£80,000 per annum, pro-rat’d due to the 6-month FTC.

WHO WE ARE

Pinnacle Group is a leading UK private sector provider of housing and neighbourhood services, managing and maintaining communities where people live, learn, work and play. We’re a people-first organisation with a value driven culture that has remained consistent for thirty years; living through how we treat our employees and our customers.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for someone who, alongside the key criteria below, will sign up to our Values of Trust, Respect, Involve, Challenge and Deliver Excellence and will be determined to maintain the confidence of our clients and communities.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Significant experience in UK employment tax and VAT with demonstrable hands-on ownership of filings, calculations and controls for group structures.
  • Inhouse experience in multisite, high-volume environments (property, facilities management, outsourcing, logistics, or similar).
  • Proven delivery of partial exemption or property related VAT, and full employment tax yearend cycle (P11D/PSA).
  • Practical exposure to off-payroll working (IR35) governance and contractor/vendor onboarding.
  • Understanding & experience of Internal Audit or second line risk/compliance functions on control design/testing.
  • Prior interaction with HMRC on employer compliance or VAT visits.
  • CTA (ideal)/ATT or ACA/ACCA with strong tax grounding.
  • IIA awareness or controls/audit training (desirable).
